5 Tips to create a killer Resume

Your resume should be your marketing document! Something that stimulates the reader to want to meet you. So here we go with 5 Tips to create a killer Resume:

#1  Layout matters! We are not suggesting colorful resumes that look like a magazines, (unless you're applying for a creative/design position) but is important to have in mind that the recruiter is probably reading another dozens of resumes, so the clearer and easier to read layout, the better.  

#2  Write the resume yourself and get a coach to double check!  Take a coach's advice, but write it yourself. No one better then yourself to know your own story and an HR person or a recruiter will notice if a resume has been written for a person. So use your own words and impress the reader. 

#3 Have a Professional Summary! Your summary should tell a compelling story that invites further inquiry. Try to organize your  experience chronologically in a concise way so the reader gets interested in keep reading the whole document. Remember the recruiter might not know you,and after reading the summary he/she should be interested in meeting you. 

#4 Tailor your Resume for each position targeted! Build your all purpose resume and call it the Master document. Now imagine each job vacancy you apply for as a problem that the hiring company has, and you are the solution for this problem. So tailor your master resume highlighting your relevant hard skills required for that specific position, figure out what's special about yourself and show it to the recruiter. 

#5 Show your value! Detail in bullet points your accomplishments within each experience. Try to show your accomplishments in numbers, not just words.  It will definitely make you stand out.
